Once you’ve got money set aside for a down payment, you’re one step closer to moving into your new home. Here are a couple things to consider as you’re looking for a house.

Figure out what you want

Here’s the fun part. What kind of home are you looking for? Where do you want to live? What are some of your house “must-haves?” What are some features you would find nice if they are in a house, but they won’t make or break  your decision?

Start researching. Looking at houses in your desired area, reviewing properties available on online listings, and attending open houses will help you narrow down your priorities and help you see what’s available and what’s reasonable to expect for your price range.

Have some fun with it, too. You can sneak peeks into people’s houses via. websites like Pinterest and Houzz. They’re great resources for decorating and renovating ideas, but they can also help you determine what you want to have in your future home. (Even if it means that you’re doing some of the work yourself.)

Find a Realtor
