The Summer Bucket List
With summer quickly approaching–as well as the sunny weather (fingers crossed)–it’s time to start brainstorming the “Summer Bucket list”. Admit it, every summer you think of stuff you want to do–by yourself, with family, friends, etc.–but you never actually do any of it. We have come up with several suggestions that are feasible for your summer bucket list. Keep us posted on how your summer bucket list is coming along; what things have you already done or what things should we add!
1. Go for a Bike ride
If you’re like me, the most recent bike you have is the one your parents purchased you for your 10th birthday. In other words, you don’t have bike. Not a problem! Many places rent bikes by the hour or for day. Some great places to go biking are: The Sea Wall in Vancouver, Albert Dick Lake in Abbotsford, Mill Lake Park in Abbotsford, the dyke in Ladner, and so forth. If you’re feeling even more adventurous, try tandem-biking. It’s an experience you’ll never forget!
2. Visit the Beach
The most classic item on a summer bucket list because let’s be real… what’s summer without the beach at least once? Cultus or White Rock are always go-to places for the beach, but Vancouver boasts some of the best beaches around the Lower Mainland with their soft sand and amenities surrounding the beach. Bring a Frisbee, volleyball, soccer ball, or stuff to BBQ with, along with some friends and family and you’ve got yourself a great day!
3. Waterslides
What’s more fun than spending countless hours flying full-speed down twisting and turning slides, riding rapids on an inner-tube, taking the plunge down a near-vertical slide, or lazing in a river? Not much! Head out to Cultus Lake Water Park to enjoy the thrilling, yet family-friendly water slides and pools.
4. Animals Galore!
If you’re an animal lover, or just want a day filled with fun, check out either the Greater Vancouver Zoo or the Vancouver Aquarium. Come face to face with belugas, dolphins, lions, and even an emu. People of any age will have fun at either of these two facilities.
5. Get out into Nature
If you don’t feel like spending any money, but want a view that’s worth a million dollars, why not take a hike? The Greater Vancouver area is home to some of the best hiking: Abbotsford Grind, Mt. Cheam, Grouse Grind, Golden Ears, Deep Cove, the Chief, and many more. Check out this website to find hiking trails near you.
6. Celebration of Light
Although it’s an item on the bucket list that can only be used for a week, the Celebration of Light is a must-see for all! Different countries from around the world come to Vancouver to showcase their firework display in English Bay. Check out this website for full details.
