Walk, Eat & Shop Your Way Through Fort Langley

Explore Fort Langley

Living in the Fraser Valley means you’re a short drive away from the best neighborhoods and villages, making it easy to spend a relaxed afternoon strolling through the sites, grabbing a meal with friends and family in a unique spot, or picking up one-of-a-kind gifts and treasures to individualize your home and build a life you love. True to its name, Fort Langley is home to the Fort Langley National Historic Site, a former fur trade post of the Hudson’s Bay Company. But there’s much more to explore in this farmer’s village than the fort itself.

From sushi and martini bars to fine dining, Fort Langley has a wealth of great places to eat. Stop by Planet Java for a burger and fries in a retro diner, or try one of the local seasonal features on the patio at Beatnik’s Bistro. Pizza, grilled cheese, beer – whatever you’re looking for, you’re bound to find it here! Need something caffeinated? Top-quality coffee and tasty pastries are abundant throughout the village. Wendel’s Bookstore and Cafe, Lelum’, Republica Coffee Roasters – they’re all there! The most recent addition is Blacksmith Bakery, an artisan bakeshop with cakes, tarts and more – everything is baked fresh daily! Sweet treats can also be found at Maria’s Gelato and Ritual, a brand-new boutique ice creamery serving ice cream and crepes.

Once you’ve satisfied your hunger pangs, stroll down the street and duck in and out of the shops available. From women’s clothing to aromatherapy, kitchen goods to gardening tools, there’s something for everyone – including the hard-to-buy-for people on your list. One of the newest stores on the block, Bella & Wren, is a stylish lifestyle boutique carrying established and up-and-coming fashion and accessory brands.

And if you need a little more than meandering through shops, lace up your running shoes and enjoy a walk along the Bedford Channel. Stretch your journey a little longer and run, walk or cycle through the Fort-to-Fort trail. Linking Fort Langley to Derby Reach Park, the Fort-to-Fort trail is a peaceful trek through a serene setting with views of Mount Baker and Golden Ears. It’s a great trek for the whole family and leashed dogs. The path is clear and well marked. It’s open year-round, but make sure to use bug spray if you’re enjoying the trail during the summer.

Fort Langley is the perfect place to spend a relaxing Sunday afternoon, especially if you’re looking for something to do with out-of-town visitors. (You’ll need more than a couple visits to sample all of the excellent food!)
