As Canada’s largest aviation festival, the Abbotsford Airshow is full of performances and demonstrations, static displays and exhibitions that celebrate aviation excellence, aerospace advancement and community participation.
With an average annual attendance of more than 125,000 people, the Abbotsford Airshow is the largest air show on the West Coast and one of the summer’s most popular activities in the Fraser Valley. USA Today called it one of the world’s top ten air shows, and Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau designated it as Canada’s National Airshow in the mid-1970s.
This year, the Airshow takes place on August 9, 10 and 11 at the Abbotsford International Airport. Gates open at 9:00 a.m. and close at 6:00 p.m. The main flying events begin at noon each day.
There’ll be a fantastic lineup of flying and ground displays, featuring the Snowbirds, the Canadian Air Force’s CF18 Hornet demo, the WWII Warbirds and the AV8FX Pyrotechnics group whose impressive presentation includes explosions and fire. Fans of the popular docu-series Ice Pilots NWT will be excited to know that Mikey McBryan and Scott Blue will be visiting with fans and spectators at the Airshow on August 9 and 10. A full schedule of all of the weekend’s events can be viewed online.
