Getting Outside In Aldergrove
Getting Outside In Aldergrove
Living in the Fraser Valley means you’re lucky to have lots of great, scenic spaces to get outside and enjoy your beautiful backyard. Aldergrove Regional Park is one of those spots that offers something for everyone in the family, regardless of age or physical ability. Located just five minutes from the Aldergrove border crossing, it’s a great spot to go for a post-dinner walk or go for a longer hike with a big group of friends or family.
Have you never been and need to find it for the first-time? Drive to the main park entrance on 8 Avenue (if you’re coming from Abbotsford, Huntingdon Rd turns into 8 Ave) just east of 272nd Street. Continue down the park entrance road until you cross Pepin Brook. Turn right to find the main info kiosk.
It has a variety of multi-use trails like the Rock ‘N Horse Trail for equestrians, cyclists and pedestrians. You’ll find a picnic site with a small, sandy play area, trails, and washrooms. The Blacktail picnic shelter is available for reservations – great for a birthday party or a family fete with up to 100 people. There’s also a large fenced-off area where dogs can roam freely off leash! There are a few shorter trails right by the parking lot that circle the old lake area. With the park being open during daylight hours year round, you can always find a little time before or after work to go for a quick jaunt in the beautiful great outdoors.
Along with its multi-use trails, Aldergrove Regional Park also has a designated hiking trail with a couple of options for the hike length. You can push yourself with a longer hike to the Aldergrove Bowl or loop back to the picnic area for a short walk that will get the blood pumping but won’t exhaust you. The Aldergrove Bowl is a great park area for large groups of people with a small fee to reserve the large space that is actually a recovered gravel extraction site. The viewpoint on top of one of the area’s hills has a great view.
Don’t take our word for it, come out and see it for yourself! And while you’re out here, you should check out the long list of activities to do in Aldergrove and Fort Langley.
