It’s no surprise Vancouver is known as Hollywood North. Plenty of movies and TV shows are filmed downtown.
But did you know it extends out east too? The Township of Langley hosts many movie and TV shoots, like Once Upon A Time and more Hallmark Christmas movies than you can count. And, right now, Aldergrove is home to an iconic film set for a popular show on TV too!
Bates Motel is a drama/thriller series airing on the A&E network. It’s a “ contemporary prequel” to Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 film Psycho, focusing around the life of a teenaged Norman Bates and his mother Norma. It stars Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas), Freddie Highmore (Finding Neverland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), and Nestor Carbonelli (Suddenly Susan, Lost).
If you’re already a fan and interested in sneaking a peek at the set, you’ll find a replica of the Bates’ motel on 272 Street! And who knows? You may even see them filming there too.
Contrary to what you may expect, this isn’t the first major television show to be filmed in Aldergrove either. Episodes of Smallville were filmed in and around the area. And, believe it or not, parts of the Twilight series were also filmed in Aldergrove too!
You never know whom you may bump into as you grab groceries or settle in for a coffee. Fancy the idea of brushing elbows with famous faces? Maybe it’ll happen when you grab a coffee at Milsean or stop by the grocery store.
