Last-minute Halloween costumes for mom and dad
Sure, you’ve spent plenty of time hunting down the perfect wig and the right face paint to perfect your son or daughter’s Halloween costume. Time has run out, so what are you going to wear as your walk them around the neighbourhood?
If your kids are all dressed up and you feel like getting into the Halloween game to walk them down the road, we’ve come up with a few fun costume ideas that you can quickly throw together using things that you might already have around the house.
- Supermom or Superdad: If you have black spandex, you’ll want to dig it out. Whether it’s hiding in the back of your closet or a part of your regular workout gear, throw it on and get creative by layering other bright clothes on top. Make sure that you don’t forget your utility belt, too! Find a sturdy belt or thick bathrobe tie and wrap it around your waist. Hang your “gadgets” on it. Some suggestions? A ladle, car keys, cell phone, cooking spoons, sponge, a page from an old calendar, a scrub brush and whatever else you can find that shows everything you do around your home.
- “Cereal” killer: Grab a cereal box out of the recycling bin, cut a few small holes in the side and wedge a plastic knife into it. Voila! You’re a “cereal” killer.
- Freaky Friday: “Switch” outfits with your spouse, or dress up in an outfit that one of your kids likes to wear. In the likely event that you can’t fit each other’s clothes, try to come up with something that’s the same colour or style as what you see them wearing.
You could also scavenge through your kids’ toy boxes for more ideas. Does your son have a cape? Throw it around your neck and tell everyone that Batman went through a growth spurt. Pull out your old prom dress or wedding gown and add a tiara and wand to transform yourself into a princess. The ideas can be endless!
