Relax Well At Home
Vacations are a great away to unwind and relax, but they aren’t always feasible. Plans and budgets don’t always align, making it important to transform your home into (at least temporarily) a soothing oasis where stress and anxiety melt away.
Get the most out of BBQ season this year.
- Lose the schedule: Whether there’s a fixed timeline, or just a running tally of what needs to be done in your head, relax your plans and let the day take you where it needs to go. (It may even mean you need to schedule in a time to purposely do nothing.)
- Unplug all of your devices: TV, tablet, computer, and phone. Turning them off (or, in case you don’t have a land-line phone, keeping them out of arm’s reach) takes a little getting used to, but it’ll set the stage to unwind quickly.
- Get outside and be active: It doesn’t need to be intense exercise, just a leisurely walk through the park can be fun. Getting moving in the fresh air perks you up and helps you sleep better at night.
- Do something that completely relaxes you: Read a book, have a bath, do absolutely nothing – whatever you want to do, you should do it.
- Set aside time to do it again: Instead of waiting until you’re at the end of your rope to find time to relax and rest, schedule a block of time to do it again while you’re enjoying your present moment. Setting aside (and being protective of) this time gives you something to look forward to, and a pre-planned reason to decline other activities that come up.
